Spanish Miners strike back against austerity.
A woman and child reported minor injuries in violent clashes last night in the Asturias region, in Pola de Lena, between miners and police officials, Civil Guards sources were quoted as saying by national state broadcaster. The accidents started at 10 pm local time after protesters set up a road block on the A66 highway, the main road connecting the region to Madrid. Guardia Civil agents intervened after a group of miners took possession of a bus with 31 passengers on board and used it to block traffic and create a barricade using tires set on fire. A battle ensued with police for a few hours and the minor reported injuries after a rocket thrown by a miner hit her window while the woman was injured by glass from a broken window. The road block was removed at 4 am.
